Procurement – Policy & Process in the real world.
Everyone wants a simple Procurement Policy with minimal steps and maximum protection. How do we balance having a simple process whilst often struggling to attract suppliers? A well-articulated Procurement Policy is essential for operations, but there still seems to be room for improvement across the sector. Going beyond simple interpretation of process, balancing risk, financial outlay, probity and conflict of interest are all elements to be considered.
Jo will share her experiences as both a practitioner and consultant across the local government procurement sector. She will provide guidance around what the elements of a sound procurement environment are, common myths and misconceptions and current trends. She will also share real examples of strong controls and where controls have been weak or non-existent, outlining the consequences for the individual, supplier and the Council.

A passionate procurement advocate, Jo views procurement as both a support service to, and a protection mechanism for, government entities.
